How to create a lake like water surface in Flash
this here is a way to recreate the motion of the water on a lake (in our example) in Flash. Download our example and follow our indications because the technique used, one that I call "mask in mask", will help you develop your own version which we would be glad to host on our website
first thing you need to do is to find a great picture, like the one we used in our sample
in the Main Stage the actual effect is placed in a Movie Clip, on the last layer so ignore the first three
in that Movie Clip (double click on it to open its stage) place the picture on the last frame
the main idea of this effect is simple: over the background we place another instance of that picture but a little modified (stretch the picture by using Free Transform in the right click menu, then by holding the Shift key and pooling from one corner, the picture will enlarge in that direction but with the same width/height proportions), but we place the second under a Mask; the Mask is a Movie Clip of some little circles that move; the result would be the one shown above; that's the idea but how we do that?
